CASINO MALINDI FASHION SHOW 2010

CASINO MALINDI FASHION SHOW 2010
SATURDAY, MARCH 6, 2010

Casinò Malindi, a leading gaming and entertainment company on the Kenyan Coast, is hosting its 5th annual Fashion Show on Saturday, March 6, 2010. The show will take place at one of Malindi’s most elegant venues: Casinò Malindi’s La Griglia Restaurant.

The fashion show is primarily a showcase for both Kenyan and international designers who create couture and accessories, all with some relic of Africa. The show is also a tribute to International Women’s Day, a day to celebrate women’s advancement and to highlight the need for continued vigilance and action.

In addition to being a unique opportunity for talented fashion designers, the event promises to attract the participation of today’s most stunning Kenyan runway models by Imani Models.
Designers will also be available to take orders on the spot. Fashion lovers will be in fashion heaven as they spend a stylish evening at La Griglia Restaurant soaking up the latest in fashion designs along with a delicious gourmet dinner.

This is a positive event for Malindi, creating opportunities for stylists, models and others in the fashion industry. Fashion buyers will be given additional choices. And travelers to Malindi will have another fun activity to put on their "must do" calendar.

Many thanks to our sponsors: Mary’s Hair & Beauty Salon, Artist Alexandra Spyratos, Tamani Jua Hotel, Driftwood Beach Club, Savana Resort, Double Heart Resort, Lawfords Hotel, Dorado Cottages, Mwembe Resort , Plan Hotels, Kilili Baharini , Afrikasa and Air Kenya.

CASINO MALINDI FASHION SHOW 2010
SATURDAY, MARCH 6, 2010

Participating Designers:

House of Imani – Liz Ogumbo’s "Less is more" collection allows the African woman to….. Say it in Black! The little black dress is the epitome of timeless fashion and solves it all: from simple meetings, to luncheons and dinner parties, to the red carpet and, of course, a romantic date.

John Kaveke – Kenyan fashion designer Kaveke’s style is contemporary with an edge. He uses leather, denim, silk, linen and maasai beads in his creations. His designs, which are for both sexes, express boldness, colour, vitality and individuality.

Kiko Romeo – Founded by An McCreath, Kiko Romeo maximizes the body potential, with the creation of the flattering yet ultimately wearable concept of "Radical Nairobi Chic" for men, women and children. New products use recycled and organic material.

Kondakis – Of Greek and Danish origin, Nike Kondakis designs her clothing and accessories in Kenya. She works with the concept of "re-design", meaning creating something new out of something old, hence the creation of her (recycled) Parachute and Dead Wood Collections.

Magik Grace – Adele Dejak, has carved a niche as a designer who creates contemporary, yet cutting edge jewellery, clothing, bags and sandals, using natural and local products like bone, horn, materials and leather not just from Kenya, but also from the Horn of Africa region and West Africa.

The Man’s Shop – Contrary to the name, Danila Tomasi’s Malindi boutique offers a vast array of fashion for both men and women. From couture designer names to local fashion: Danila will add her experienced fashion sense to have you walking out in style!

Utamaduni Wear – Utamaduni is a Swahili word associated with culture and traditions. Head designer Wambui Wamutogoria has combined her love for fashion and the rich, vibrant colours, fabrics and accessories of Africa’s glorious past and blended them with fresh trends and global fashion.

Vee Fashion House – VFH is a Malindi-based company led by Vera (Vee), who maintains a local touch with an international outlook in the fashion industry. Vee offers a wide range for men and women, using original African materials: kangas, batik, maasai fabrics, animal prints and leather.
